Marianna Di Scala

Marianna Di Scala obtained her Master Degree in Pharmaceutical Biothechonogy in 2007 (University of Naples “Federico II”). In 2009, Marianna joined the department of Gene Therapy and Hepatology at the CIMA center (University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain) as PhD studentship in “Molecular and cellular biology”. After completing her PhD, Marianna improved her professional career as Postdoc in CIMA center and also in CNIC center (Madrid).

During these studies, Marianna published various high-impact international peer-reviewed publications as leading author and collaborated with different international partners, including a European Company.

Marianna’s stronger background is focused on the gene therapy liver delivery of different pharmaceutical compounds trying to generate innovative immunotherapies against different liver pathologies. Marianna is expert in areas like gene therapy, flow cytometry, immunology and molecular biology, among others.

Marianna is inspired by an admired scientific woman of reference, Rita Levi Montalcini, hopefully following her guide: “I tell young people: Do not think of yourself, think of others. Think of the future that awaits you, think about what you can do and do not fear anything” because “Rare are the people who use their minds. Few are the people who use the heart and unique those who use both” (Rita Levi Montalcini).
